KII KII INN & SUITES

Kii Kii Inn & Suites is the oldest motel in Rarotonga and The Cook Islands. The first accommodation to be built, in 1967 as a 4 room property which grew to 12 rooms by 1979. Owned by the Napa family and built by father Harry and his wife. It has now grown to over double the amount of rooms featuring family sized accommodation for 5.

I highly recommend Kii Kii Inn as a fantastic and very affordable place to stay for couples and families as there are rooms to fit both. A quiet beachfront property located just a few km’s East of Avarua and close to the airport, it’s in a good central area with all you need close by.

Although not a swimming beach as the lagoon is shallow here with a coral beach, it’s still great for exploring and this area is close to one of the best surf breaks around the Island. We woke up earlier than usual one morning at Kii Kii to watch the sun come up and caught the most beautiful sunrise.

It’s a fantastic original Cook Islands holiday property that has been well maintained including the mattresses with one of the best beds I’ve slept on in Rarotonga. We were put in a family suite which could sleep 5 people! One Queen bed and one single bed in the separate bedroom with a bathroom off to the side and two single beds in the living area. A kitchen and eating area also made up the rest of our room. It was in the original 12 room section heading towards the beach along side the pool in the centre of the grounds.

A no party policy applies here for a peaceful stay. It’s surprisingly quiet for the amount of rooms making it easy to relax. The staff at Kii Kii are very friendly and helpful. We really couldn’t fault this property. We only had one problem while staying here and that was the lack of hot water. We thankfully didn’t need to wash our hair (brrr) in the two nights we stayed so it wasn’t too inconvenient. During the hotter months it would be fine.

Family suites are self catering with a full sized kitchen allowing you to cook your own meals which we did one night saving us $40. We had brought a few dry packets of continental pasta and sauce from home to make a few nights cheaper. The cook top is old but does the job ok.

This property has a pool for guests and parking on site if you have a rental car. House keeping will keep your room tidy and towels replaced every few days. Rooms here don’t have air conditioning but fly screened windows to keep air flowing and the mozzies out while sleeping. There is a ceiling fan above the Queen bed.

A TV in our room allowed for some local TV viewing one night which was good to watch  and a telephone is provided and handy for guests to make meal reservations and tour bookings if needed. Kii Kii has a WiFi hotspot so you can access your Bluesky Data here with no problems.

A very affordable place to stay which had everything we needed for only $117 per night, and beachfront!! Great value for money, very comfortable with spacious rooms and a good location right next to the lagoon. Perfect for couples or families up to 5. The kids will love exploring the beach and lagoon for hours. Kii Kii Inn is close to everything with Avarua only a few km’s away.

I highly recommend this property and would definitely return to stay again.
